We are very proud to be ambassadors and supporters of the local charity, the SNAPPY Trust. This cause is dear to our hearts and we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children with disabilities and their families through our support.
The Snappy Trust, formerly known as Snappy (Special Needs Activities and Play Provision for York), is a registered charity supporting children and young people with wide-ranging disabilities, from across the York area.
They were originally founded in 1985 by four parents who felt that their children had a tough time over the school holidays because of limited time with friends. They got together with one of the school’s head teachers and arranged to bring some of the children into school for a few days over the summer holidays to enjoy some play activities – and Snappy was born!
They have grown a lot since then and now support over 300 children, young people and their families each and every year. They have expanded their programmes to include a variety of activities and events and aim to empower children and young people by developing confidence, independence and social skills but mostly, they give the children and young people the opportunity to enjoy new experiences, have fun and make friends. They are very proud of their reputation across the York area and of the work their incredible team does to ensure that every child or young person that comes to The Snappy Trust, feels safe, valued and happy.
As ambassadors for SNAPPY, we actively promote the charity and its mission within our business. We engage in various initiatives to raise funds for the organization, such as attending and hosting charity events, participating in community fundraisers and encouraging our employees and customers to get involved and support the cause.
In addition to raising funds through various initiatives within our business such as our Easter egg and Christmas selection box appeals, collection boxes and photo’s with our very own mascot ‘Flipper’, we also work to secure resources for the charity. We network with other local enterprises and organisations to secure donations of equipment, experiences, and days out for the children and families supported by The SNAPPY Trust. These resources can have a significant impact on the quality of life and enjoyment for these children and their families, and we are proud to play a role in making them available.
We believe that by working together and utilising the resources of our business and the community, we can make a real difference in the lives of those supported by The SNAPPY Trust. We are committed to continuing our support for this worthy cause and making a positive impact on the community.
